Privacy policy
Last updated: 25 October 2026
This privacy policy applies to the app Blazefin on every platform it is offered on (currently iPhone and Apple TV, Android and Android TV in the future) and to the website blazefin.de.

2. In short
- Blazefin contains no ads, no tracking and no analytics.
- The app sends no data to me as its developer. There is no Blazefin account.
- The app only connects to the Jellyfin server you enter yourself.
- Your password is never stored.
3. The app
3.1 Connecting to your Jellyfin server
Blazefin is an app for Jellyfin media servers. So that you can watch films and series, the app exchanges data with the server whose address you enter. In particular:
- your user name and password when you sign in (only to sign in; the password is not stored),
- your device’s name, a randomly generated device identifier and the app version, so the server recognises the device,
- what you play, your playback progress, watched state and favourites,
- your settings for default language and subtitles, which are saved in your Jellyfin account.
This data is processed on your own Jellyfin server. As the developer of the app, I have no access to this data.
3.2 Extras offered by your server
Some servers also offer a wish list, messages or collections. Blazefin asks the same server whether these exist and only shows them if they do. This data (for example your film wishes, or that you have read a message) also goes to that server only.
3.3 Control between your devices
When you use your iPhone as a remote for your Apple TV or hand a film over to the TV, the devices communicate through your Jellyfin server. No other service is involved.
3.4 What is stored on your device
- address, name and user name of your saved servers,
- an access key (token) for the server, protected in the device’s keychain,
- your app settings and – if turned on – your search history,
- a cache of title information and images, so the app starts quickly.
This data does not leave your device (other than to your server as described above). You delete it by signing out in the app, removing a server from the list or deleting the app. You can turn off the search history in the settings.
3.5 Trailers and external links
If a film has a trailer with an external provider (for example YouTube), Blazefin only opens it when you explicitly ask for it. That provider’s privacy policy then applies.
3.6 Permissions
On iPhone, Blazefin asks for access to your local network so the app can reach a server at your home. The app uses neither location, camera, microphone, contacts nor photos (exception: if you choose a new profile picture in the settings, the selected picture is sent to your server). There are no push notifications.
3.7 App Store and Google Play
When you download Blazefin, Apple or Google process data under their own responsibility, for example about your account and the download. If you have agreed in your device settings to share analytics and crash data with app developers, Apple or Google provide me with anonymised crash reports. These contain nothing that identifies you.
3.8 Legal basis
Where any personal data reaches me at all (such as anonymised crash reports), the legal basis is my legitimate interest in an app that works without errors (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
4. This website
4.1 Hosting and server log files
When you visit blazefin.de, the hosting provider processes technically necessary data in server log files: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the amount of data transferred, browser and operating system, and the page you came from. This serves the secure operation of the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The data is kept only as long as necessary for that purpose and is not combined with other data.
4.2 No cookies, no third-party content
This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics and loads no fonts, scripts or content from other servers.
4.3 Contact by email
If you email me, I process your address and your message in order to reply (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). I delete the email once your request has been dealt with, unless legal retention obligations apply.
5. Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure and restriction of processing, the right to data portability, and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests. To exercise them, write to kontakt@blazefin.de.
You manage the data on your own Jellyfin server yourself. As the developer of the app, I have no access to it.
You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Baden-Württemberg.
6. Children
Blazefin is not specifically aimed at children. Which content is shown is determined by the server and its parental control settings.
7. Changes
If the app or the law changes, I will update this policy. The version published here applies.
The German version of this policy is the legally binding one.
